Things to do in Farmington

Our town has many options for food, drinks and exploring! We collected some of our favorites that we hope you enjoy as much as we do.

Hill-Stead Museum

The Hill-Stead Museum is 152- acres of open space and a National Historic Landmark. The house and its collections should not be missed!!! (Monet, Manet, Degas, Whistler and Cassatt, plus French bronzes, Japanese woodblock prints and Chinese porcelain)

Along the entrance drive, an allee of maple trees leads to the house and the circa 1920 Sunken Garden designed by Beatrix Farrand. The cocktail reception will be held in this Sunken Garden and dinner and dancing will be under a tent in front of the house on the west lawn.

Private, hour-long, complimentary, guided tours of the House and its collections are available to our wedding guests! – please register in advance below.

Explore Farmington Village

Walk around the Village – The Farmington Inn is located on Route 4, between Garden Street and historic Main Street. Check out the town map provided in your welcome bag and stroll around the town. Take a gentle walk down Main Street, through the Miss Porter’s school grounds, walk down to the river and see remnants of the old Grist Mill. Take a more “vigorous” walk up to the Hill-Stead Museum grounds where there is a great walk on paved road through the property, down to the sheep meadow and barns. You can go further afield on trails, but we don’t advise unless you have tick protection!
